I have used Motorcycle Castrol 10-40 through the period I have owned my LS-650.
Don't buy it at your local motorcycle shop through - go to Walmart and get it there - for half the price.
I loose a litre in about 1,500 kms - or a bit more if I am riding hard - higher speeds ( 110-120 kmph) or pushing a head wind. I also use a bit more in very hot weather - and sometimes it takes a devil of a long time to cool the engine enough that I can touch it and get the oil filler plug open. I carry an open litre in my tool roll and top up as soon as it starts to get a bit low - if it needs 1/4th of a litre that is what I add.
Got a 3000+ km trip in the works for late August - YIPPEE! Will be monitoring oil closely and adding oil as necessary -
Keep the rubber side down
